CAKE CARE

It is important to take care of your yummy treats after you have collected them from us - if you do they will stay looking beautiful and tasting delicious!

Transporting Cakes

  • It is important to pick up and carry the cake box from the bottom only - never from the top or sides as this may damage the cake.

  • Keep the cake level when transporting either by hand or car.

  • When transporting by car, we advise placing the cake box in an empty boot, away from lose objects. Drive carefully and slowly and avoid sharp braking or speeding round corners at all costs!

Storing Cakes

  • It is best to store cakes at room temperature as they don't like to be too hot or too cold. However, if the weather is particular hot, it may be best to store in the refrigerator but be sure to allow time (roughly an hour or two)  to bring up to room temperature before serving. The temperature of the cake can affect the flavour and consistency of the cake.

  • Always keep cakes and treats out of direct sunlight.

  • Brownies, traybakes, geohearts and cakesicles are best stored in an airtight container at room temperature.

How long will my cakes last for?

My advice - eat your cakes as soon as possible as they will always taste even more delicious the sooner you eat them.

  • The best way to store any leftover cakes or treats is to use an airtight container at room temperature.

  • Cupcakes will last 1 to 2 days after purchase.

  • Celebration cakes will last for 3 - 4 days. However if keeping for longer than 2 days, it may be best to store in the refrigerator to ensure the buttercream stays fresh.

  • Brownies, millionaire shortbread, tiffin and rice krispie cakes will last for 3 - 4 days after purchase.

Warmer Weather

In the warmer months, it is so important to look after your cake. Here are some tips on how to do this!

  • When transporting in the car, ensure the car is as cool as possible with the air conditioning on.

  • When you get home, place the cake straight into the refrigerator and take out about an hour before you plan to serve the cake into a cool room.

  • Always ensure the cake is never placed in direct sunlight or left in a warm place as it will melt and collapse!
